Smart services in Dubai Civil Defence

In line with the initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai for transformation of Dubai to become world's most connected and sustainable Smart Cities - in time for Expo 2020, Colonel Salem Khalifa Al Muqarab, Assistant Director for Finance and Support Services Committee Manager of Smart services in Civil Defence announced that by September 2014, Dubai Civil Defence should be able to facilitate transactions online using the latest technologies and applications to meet client's requirement.

Col. Al Muqarab stated that, until September Dubai Civil Defence has completed more than 90% of the services currently provided by them as smart services, Dubai Civil Defence is the first in the world to apply the initiative of electronic system for the accreditation of engineering drawings and considered as third in the world in terms of smart services for electronic protection.

Dubai Civil Defence is keen to keep up with the strategy of the Government of Dubai in the smart transformation of all services and applications, ensuring that the services are beneficial to customers and employees.

    The 24x7 Command Control Center has captured more than 4,950 real life safety alarms since the time of its inception. The Command Control Center has played a vital role in capturing and preventing fire and life safety incidents in Dubai. Statistics show steady reduction in Major incidents in Dubai owing to faster response and timely maintenance of life and safety systems. Since August 2008 until 31st August 2014, more than 44,763 assets have been subscribed to the 24x7 Direct Alarm System. In August 2014, 150 life safety incidents (50 fire incidents, 93 lift incidents and 7 gas alarms) were captured while monitoring the connected 37,939 assets.
